About One Family Table

Real Recipes for Real Families

One Family Table helps busy families put home-cooked, stress-free meals on the table through simple one-pot, sheet pan, and make-ahead recipes that bring everyone together.

Hi, I’m Emma Parker—welcome to One Family Table.

This space was born from a simple belief: good food doesn’t need to be complicated to bring families together. I live just outside Minneapolis with my husband Tom, our daughter Lily, and my mom, who keeps our kitchen full of stories from her childhood in southern Italy. Most days, you’ll also find Maple, our golden retriever, waiting patiently under the table for a crumb to fall.

My love for cooking started with my grandmother, Nonna Rosa, who taught me that the best meals are simple, generous, and meant to be shared. She cooked everything by feel—rolling gnocchi with her knuckles, simmering sauces for hours without measuring, and teaching me to trust my senses long before I learned to follow a recipe. Those lessons shaped how I cook today: uncomplicated meals, made with heart, designed to fit real family life.

I’m not a professional chef. I’ve burned plenty of dinners, over-salted soups, and forgotten ingredients more times than I can count. But I learned that cooking isn’t about perfection—it’s about presence. Most of our meals happen in the middle of homework chatter, laundry piles, and a tired husband walking in after a long shift. And yet, no matter how busy the day gets, the kitchen always brings us back together.

How One Family Table Began

During the pandemic, like so many families, we found ourselves spending more time at home. I began writing down our family recipes—some passed down from Nonna, others created during rushed weeknights with whatever we had on hand. That small notebook eventually became One Family Table.

What started as a personal collection became something bigger: a space where I could share easy, comforting recipes that busy families can rely on. One-pot dinners. Sheet-pan meals. Prep-ahead dishes. Simple weeknight favorites that don’t require special tools, fancy ingredients, or culinary school training.

My goal has always been simple: to help you cook with confidence, even on the days when time is tight and energy is low. Whether you’re feeding picky eaters, stretching your budget, or trying to bring more homemade meals into your routine, you’ll find recipes here that are realistic, flavorful, and family-approved.

Meet Our Team

As One Family Table grew, I realized I couldn’t do this alone. That’s when I invited two incredible home cooks to join me—women whose expertise, distinct voices, and dedication to helping families have made this site richer, more diverse, and even more helpful for people like you.

Together, we’re building a community where real cooking meets real life, and where every meal is a chance to gather around the table.

🌟 Clara Harris

Budget & Family Nutrition Expert

Clara is our go-to expert for budget-friendly meals that don’t sacrifice nutrition or flavor. As a mom of three (Leo, 12; Maya, 9; and David, 6) with a background in Family & Consumer Sciences from the University of Indiana, she knows firsthand what it’s like to balance healthy eating with tight schedules and tighter budgets.

Clara’s specialty is maximizing nutritional density using simple, accessible ingredients—and making it work for picky eaters. Her “One-Pot Challenge” philosophy was born on a chaotic Tuesday evening when she realized she’d spent more time washing dishes than enjoying dinner with her family.

“My approach isn’t about perfection; it’s about practical grace in the kitchen,” Clara says. “If my 12-year-old Leo approves it, I know it’ll work for your family too.”

Clara’s recipes focus on:

  • Budget-friendly family meals
  • Kid-approved healthy options
  • Nutrition-packed one-pot dinners
  • Meal prep strategies for busy parents
  • Simple techniques that maximize flavor

When she’s not in the kitchen, Clara tends her home garden, grows fresh herbs and vegetables, and works on her next e-book about stress-free meal planning.

🌟 Piper Sterling

Quick Meals Specialist & Efficiency Expert

Piper brings humor, efficiency, and zero pretension to every recipe she creates. A former corporate communications specialist turned food writer, Piper believes life is too short for complicated recipes and mountains of dirty dishes.

As a mom of two (Charlotte, 8, and Bennett, 5), Piper’s culinary philosophy is simple: “If it doesn’t fit on a sheet pan or in a Dutch oven, I’m not interested.” Her background in journalism means she cuts straight to the chase—in her writing and in her cooking.

“I used to try being a Pinterest mom,” Piper admits with a laugh. “Now I embrace the chaos and the convenience of a single, highly abused roasting pan. My husband Mark is excellent at preheating the oven, and that’s all the help I need.”

Piper’s recipes focus on:

  • 40 minutes or less, start to finish
  • 5 ingredients maximum (excluding basics)
  • Sheet-pan and one-pot efficiency
  • Humor and honesty about family dinner realities
  • Stress-free techniques for busy parents

Piper was nominated for the National Bloggers Association’s “Best Humor in Food Writing” award and contributes the “Survivalist” column for Real Mom Meals Magazine.
